Convention News
As Chairman of the 2007 National MCL Convention I am writing to urge you to remind all your Detachments.
I believe it is important that all members are given an opportunity to participate in the National Convention. It is the culmination of a year full of volunteer work and activity with the League. This is the time to celebrate the successes and to commiserate over the not so successful!
I encourage you and your Detachment Commandants to relay the following:
A) I am attaching a copy of the Registration Page. It behooves all of our members to get this filled out and sent (with their check) to aid in the planning of a successful Convention.
B) I am enclosing an Application for ads in the Convention Program. This is a great way to publicize your organization or company. Also, it is imperative that this ad program be successful in order for the host to pay for the convention.
C) As you probably know the Convention Hotel (the Marriott on Louisiana Blvd) has been sold out since September.
You can help us by doing all the above in a timely manner.
IF YOU ARE NO LONGER THE COMMANDANT PLEASE PASS THIS LETTER ON TO YOUR REPLACEMENT!
We all look forward to seeing you in Albuquerque in August!

Newsletter Competition
Below is the invitation letter dated Aug, 2006 (right after the last Convention), the Judging Criteria, the form of Submission and a Dissertation as to what the judges are looking for. It as an opportunity to change your newsletter for the better.
Two big changes: one is the range of detachment membership for each level, i.e.: 50/100 and over. Departments have their own category. The other is that we have added another category for best stories. Three chances for best story.
Please, if you must wait until the last moment to send in your 3 copies of newsletters, use Priority Mail envelopes. You can stuff them mightily and pay only a flat rate of $4.05. A bargain. Other options are just too expensive.
Remember, envelopes must arrive at the 442 Honeylynn lane, Grants Pass, OR 97527-9013 by June 20th - no exceptions.
I hope you will continue to enter the competition. There are so many fine letters!
